Meet Sabrina
I'm so glad you're here. I'm a Midwest author who writes clean thrillers filled with suspense, mystery, and unexpected twists. After stepping away from my career as a retail pharmacist, I followed my longtime love of storytelling and began writing the kinds of page-turning books I've always enjoyed reading.
When I'm not writing, I love traveling and spending time with my family, our tuxedo cat, and our rescued pit bull mix. A few of my favorite things are unsweet tea, walking barefoot in sand that isn't too hot, and chocolate paired with peanut butter. I also love watching movies and television shows from nearly every genre. Some of my favorites are Pride & Prejudice with Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen, and Stranger Things.
Although I enjoy reading both romance and mystery novels, thrillers are the stories I love bringing to life. There's something about secrets, suspense, and a twist you never saw coming that keeps me returning to the page.
Most of all, I'm deeply grateful for every reader who picks up one of my books. Hearing that you enjoyed a story, receiving your messages, and reading your wonderful reviews means more than you know and keeps me inspired to write the next one.
My Writing Process
I thought it would be fun to tell you all about my writing process. I do my best writing in the late afternoon and early evening, and it has to be completely quiet. I can concentrate with "white noise" but not with a TV on or music playing. It takes me anywhere from 2-4 hours to write one chapter, so I try to only write one chapter per day. The Spark & Plotting the Twist
My ideas usually start with a notebook — I'm old school that way. The idea for Patient 7 actually came from lunch with friends at Panera while we were brainstorming.
From there, I jot down possible characters, plot twists, timelines, and anything else that might shape the story. I've tried outlining chapter by chapter before, but it never works for me. As I write, new ideas come, the story shifts, and sometimes I create new characters along the way. That's why some of my books have lots of characters — sorry about that.
Writing & Revising
I usually start with a very rough draft and write the first 10 to 15 chapters, then send those to my developmental editor along with the future plot twists I'm planning. After her notes, I revise and keep writing until the book is finished — usually about two months depending on length.
From there, the manuscript goes to alpha readers, a copy editor, beta readers, and finally a proofreader. After proofreading, I format the book, upload it, and send it to my ARC readers about 10 to 14 days before launch. As an indie author, there are a lot of moving parts — and I do everything myself. I put my heart and soul into every book, from the first rough idea to the final proofread.
